Chronix Biomedical

Brookings, South Dakota  –   Imagine being able to diagnose cancer with a simple blood test.                 That test – and a slew of other applied research – is being developed at a new lab in Brookings, SD.

The lab, which opened earlier this year, is the culmination of a decade-long relationship between San Jose-based Chronix Biomedical and researchers at South Dakota State University and in Germany.
“It’s been a great relationship and we’ve grown as a result of that,” said Howard Urnovitz, CEO of Chronix Biomedical.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota  – Sherri Rotert’s non-traditional approach to running a law firm is found in the translation of her new business’s name.

            Called Novellus Law, PC, the name derives from the Latin word for “new.”
            “It means doing things with a different approach,” Rotert said.
            “It’s very difficult in a traditional firm to work outside the box,” she said. “I work with a lot of entrepreneurs, but the billable hour model is not a good fit for them. On my own I can work with a lot more flat fees and hybrid fees.”
