PAT COSTELLO

SOUTH DAKOTA GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Pat Costello assumed his role as the Commissioner of the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) in January 2011. Commissioner Costello is also a member of Gov. Dennis Daugaard’s six-person executive committee.

Costello began his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant working with firms in both Arizona and South Dakota. In addition to his work as a CPA (inactive), for the past 20 years Costello has operated small businesses in Sioux Falls including Fuddruckers restaurant and is a partner in Borrowed Buck’s Roadhouse. Costello currently sits on the Board of Directors for Children’s Care Hospital and School, is a Rotary Club member, and served on the Sioux Falls City Council from 2006-2010. Costello served as Chairman of the city council from 2009-2010.

Costello is a graduate of Sioux Falls O’Gorman High School and Arizona State University. Costello and his wife, Shawn, have three children.

 

SHERRI ROTERT

GREENFIELD ROTERT LAW, P.C.

Sherri Rotert is an attorney and owner of Novellus Law, P.C. Sherri has been practicing law since 2000, when she began her career at Cooley, LLP, a national law firm based in San Francisco representing technology companies and venture capitalists. In 2003, Sherri returned to Sioux Falls and worked at Boyce, Greenfield, Pashby & Welk, LLP. Sherri focuses her practice on representing technology companies, entrepreneurs and investors in business transactions ranging from business formation to intellectual property licensing. She obtained her law degree from the University of Denver College of Law in 2000, where she graduated with honors. She has an undergraduate degree in business from the University of South Dakota.

 

DR. SHANE SARVER

BLACK HILLS STATE UNIVERSITY

Dr. Shane Sarver received his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in 1992 and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Atmospheric Science, the University of South Carolina and a Visiting Scientist at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington prior to coming to Black Hills State University in 1996 as an Assistant Professor of Biology. Dr. Sarver has served as the Director of the Center for the Conservation of Biological Resources since 2004 and the Chief Research Officer since 2008. Dr. Sarver has served as the Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on more than  $1 million of extramurally funded projects.


DR. MELVIN USTAD

SOUTH DAKOTA GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Dr. Melvin Ustad, Director of the South Dakota Office of Commercialization, has extensive experience leading collaborative interdisciplinary public private research and economic development projects. Dr. Ustad also served as Acting and Interim Vice President for Research at the University of South Dakota, Director of the South Dakota SBIR Center, and worked for US Senator Larry Pressler. He has served or currently serves on the board of directors of numerous national and state technology entrepreneurship organizations. Dr. Ustad has been an active researcher serving as principal investigator on numerous research and outreach projects supported by various federal agencies and private foundations.
