For specialized needs, Falcon is readily equipped with sonic welding and decorating devices. In support of product development and ongoing manufacturing needs, each facility has access to a comprehensive tool shop that utilizes the latest in CNC, Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), and Computer-aided Design/Computer-aided Machining (CAD/CAM)software.


Medgene Labs is an animal health diagnostics and therapeutic development company working with leading researchers and strategic partners in the fields of virology, bacteriology, immunology, and molecular diagnostics. Sources of market-aligned technology concepts include an expanding network of university researchers, regional producers, biotechnology companies, and contract research organizations.


Located in Brookings, Prairie AquaTech specializes in new approaches to aquaculture feeds and health supplements and has developed a process that will replace more expensive natural resources that are currently used in the aquaculture feeds market. Operating in a state-of-the-art aquaculture research facility, the company's research team is optimizing feed and health supplement formulations and conducting feeding trials to produce fish meal replacers that are a lower cost alternative, blend-ready to meet species nutrient requirements and provide immune enhancing characteristics.

Sanford Research is a non-profit research organization and is part of Sanford Health, an integrated health system headquartered in the Dakotas. The South Dakota Public University and Research Center (University Center) is a collaboration of the South Dakota Board of Regents and all of the regental universities in the state. The GEAR Center was opened in Spring, 2009 in Sioux Falls to stimulate applied research and commercialization in South Dakota. The U's Biomedical Engineering program and Center for Research & Development of Light-activated Materials are both housed in the GEAR CENTER.
